8 Lio Tipton Started On America's Next Top Model

After moving out to California, Tipton began being approached by modeling recruiters. When they first auditioned for the reality show America's Next Top Model, they didn't get in, but then they were contacted six or seven months later and were asked to be on the series. Tipton said that previously to them being cast on the show, one of the students from their school had already been on it. Tipton told the Off the Beat podcast that they were really excited about being on the series, although their parents were scared about it.

7 Lio Tipton Got To Work With Steve Carell

Tipton told SacTown Magazine that they were taught how to be on set by Steve Carell, who Tipton claimed was "very, very, very, kind." Tipton worked with the actor on Crazy, Stupid, Love. "Steve was never, not once, impatient. He never spoke down [to me.]" Tipton was grateful for Carell's kindness, as they were new to acting, and new actors are often very green when they start working on film sets.

6 Lio Tipton Is Non-binary

During the summer of 2021, Tipton came out on social media as being non-binary. "Hi. My name is Lio," they wrote in an Instagram post. "My pronouns are they/she. I am proud to announce I am queer and I identify as non-binary. I hope to give as much love and support back to those who continue to show love and support for the Pride community at large." Tipton came out at the beginning of pride month.

5 Lio Tipton Was Once Analeigh Tipton

Before coming out as queer and non-binary, Tipton went by the first name of Analeigh. They changed their name to Lio when they came out. Tipton referred to it as their "previous name" on the Off the Beat podcast. The director of the film The Green Hornet, couldn't pronounce Analeigh which everyone on set thought was funny, so they used that name in the movie for Tipton's character.

4 Lio Tipton Married Chaz Salembier

According to People, Tipton married Chaz Salembier, an executive in the entertainment industry, in October 2022. The pair actually tied the knot at a courthouse but then later held a ceremony with just 35 guests days later. Tipton told People that "the advantage of such a low number was that my partner, Chaz, and I were able to celebrate in such a wonderfully intimate way and we were truly able to appreciate everyone sharing such an important weekend with us."

3 Lio Tipton Grew Up In Sacramento

Lio Tipton lived in the Sacramento area for a while and did some modeling in the area. They actually lived in Folsom, California, and were hired for some small modeling jobs while living there. Their parents sold Tipton's childhood home after their dad retired from working at Intel for 30 years, but Tipton said that they will still be visiting the area, because "all my friends and my memories are chained to that area, so I'm still going to be getting back there. I love Sacramento."

2 Lio Tipton Isn't The Most Social Person

In high school, Tipton said they placed themselves outside of interacting with students and that they wanted to be a filmmaker. "Everyone wanted to be on camera and I was allowed in these circles that I was never allowed in before." Tipton also stated that filming with their camera at school gave them an in with their peers but it also provided them with a shield. Tipton also stated that they love looking through a camera lens and that there's nothing like it.

1 Lio Tipton Was An Ice Skater

Lio Tipton was born in Minneapolis and they were a figure skater early on in life. "In Minnesota, you learn how to tie skates before you learn how to walk," Tipton shared on the Off the Beat podcast. They skated until they were around 22 years old. They do still skate sometimes, however they told the podcast listeners that they didn't know how they did some of the things they did back when they were younger. "Squatting with one leg sticking out and then standing again? Oh, forget about it," they said.
